Settling Down

Our little Emma has certainly settled in, gotten used to our routines, and become a real member of our home now. She is part of our pack, and she is just such a little love. She has all the cuteness and rambunctiousness a puppy should have, but somehow though all the puppy wildness we see the dignity and control, she often will show, that points us to the dog she will mature into when out of the puppy stage.

What can I say? We can't call her "perfect puppy" because that moniker was already taken by a previous beloved pet - our Zoe. But both she and Chloe are fast becoming perfect for us as we move forward on Emma's puppy journey!

Yes, it was much simpler with just one pet. Chloe. However, we made the decision to adopt Emma because the timing was finally right and the urges for another dog were there again. And, we really thought Chloe would be the one to benefit from a new little friend. They are becoming closer all the time and, I believe that when Emma is truly an adult their friendship will then blossom fully. Right now, there are times when we're sure Chloe is asking us why we let this wild puppy into our home to disturb her peace!

Oh, and did I tell you the true surprise? Emma is actually more English Cocker Spaniel than American! She may just be all English Cocker. One day a DNA test will tell the rest of the story.

For now, all is well here and we are truly blessed.

Meet Our Emma

So my journey continues, or shall I say - fast forwards to a week ago when we added another darling to our lives. Yes, we had told ourselves we were going to calm everything down, try to rest & take it easy... But, we ended up adopting our Emma. She is an 8 month old tri-color American Cocker Spaniel.

We found out about her from Cherished Cocker Rescue in Ohio, and shortly after that it was all over because our hearts were hers. And, the wonderful part of all this is that she seems to be quite happy with us as well. Extremely so.

It was off to get her very soon after talking to Christine at Cherished Cockers, and being approved. A mere 7-hour drive, one-way, with our Chloe along for the ride because, of course, she had to meet her little sister.

Chloe was the real reason behind the adoption of little Emma. When we lost our Molly, Chloe lost a friend & companion as well. We really felt she would have a more complete life with a whole lot of extra activity with Emma. An infusion of fun & frolic which would round out her life nicely.

Chloe and Emma are starting to bond and we're all just one big happy family! Here she is, meet our Emma:

Another Love

Part of what I love about life is being able to drive. Just drive. Even just meander. Let the road twist and turn - and surprise me. This love of driving started as a little girl when my Dad would put me on his lap and let me steer the car. (Way back then it was what was done. And what fun it was. Always in a safe enclosed place like an empty park's parking lot.) These memories are so very meaningful to me.

It is no wonder then that the car I have now had for 6 years is one my Dad would have loved. He actually did get it for me because I used the money he left me when he passed away. I don't think I'll ever part with this car. It was love at first sight, and suits me to a tee. A true roadster with such spirit and spunk... to put it mildly! It's a Porsche Boxster S limited edition. A beauty in so many ways.

This car has taken me on many of my journeys. Did I mention that it's also a convertible? Ah, the sheer joy of the wind blowing through your hair with the top down.

Come along with me as my life journey continues, and my world continues to unfold. It’s an exciting life that has not always been a smooth ride, but it has always been an interesting one. I’ve been sharing this roller coaster experience with my wonderful husband of 37 years. And, we have been truly blessed along the way.
I love photography, reading, walking (especially hand-in-hand with my guy) and cooking (when I can make time for it). We especially love our sweet dog, Chloe.
